William Anderson - Introduction

Updated: May 8, 2023

Hey!

My name is Will Anderson and I am a sophomore Biology major with a Chemistry minor and a concentration in Biochemistry. After college I hope to attend the Emory University School of Medicine to get my Doctor of Medicine degree and specialize in Emergency Medicine. Sometime after medical school, I hope to attend the Emory Rollins School of Public Health to earn my Masters in Public Health degree. I have always loved science, and learning more about what the natural world has to offer!

My uncle was a PhD botanist by trade and worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers around the Mobile River Delta in Mobile, Alabama. I visited him as often as I could. I loved learning about different species of plants in that area and basic floral morphological structures that would get me a leg up in some of my college biology courses. I am extremely excited to be taking this GC2Y course and cannot wait to see what the Bahamas has to offer!

This will be my third time in the Bahamas, the other two were on cruises with my family and friends. Needless to say that I am so excited to see more of what the islands have to offer that normal tourists do not get the pleasure of seeing! I did get to snorkel when I was in the Bahamas before, but nothing to the extent that we will be doing in the field! I love traveling and getting to experience new cultures, so naturally I have always wanted to study abroad. I am very grateful for this opportunity, and cannot wait to see what these next 3ish weeks have to offer! I have included some pictures of the beautiful Bahamian landscape below in case you are interested!

I shoot on the Georgia College Clay Targets Team and in my free time I compete on the national level. I would love to shoot for Team USA in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. I have several friends, mentors, and coaches who are currently active on Team USA. I have also been lucky enough to have received several official invites to shoot with the Team in Colorado Springs at the US Olympic Training Facility.
