A Full Day of Travel

I have never traveled outside of the United States while also staying in a foreign country for a prolonged period, so all of this is a new experience for me. Flying is not a new experience for me, I have been on planes and walked through a multitude of airports. Nothing stood out to me as being different except when going through customs and having to provide my passport to them. That was the only thing that was a new experience and I know it was very unlikely for it to happen to me, but I did not want to be randomly selected for a bag search or something in my luggage be suspicious while being scanned. Those thoughts always run through my head while going through regular domestic security and they were being thought about while going through customs. Fortunately, I was not stopped, the customs checkpoint surprised me because I thought they would have at least talked to me but the people ahead of me and myself were just told to have a good day and to go on through. Coming into the Bahamas was a very easy traveling experience. Everyone was super nice and always smiling. I would say that it was a part of their job but walking through the Atlanta airport it was not as inviting and welcoming. I want to say its apart of their culture because even as we left the airport and arrived at our hotel for the night the driver of the van was just as welcoming and helpful and as we got checked in to our rooms it was the same kind of atmosphere. To go along with the welcoming culture that I have experience here in just a short time, I love how everything is colorful. As we flew in, I saw a multitude of houses that were all different kinds of colors. Even the hotel we are staying at for the night has buildings that are orange, green, and even purple. A shock I had was when we were on the other side of the road. Since I had been here before I knew that it was going to happen, but it still made me think that the driver did not know what she was doing but of course she did. I hope the people of the Bahamas have the same vibe for the two weeks we are here because as of right now I’m loving it.
